FOR ME IN 2026
Great to meet you! I’m Rebecca Jones, and I’m running for San Diego County Supervisor District 5. In case you don’t know, there is a 5-member Board of Supervisors that sets policy for all of San Diego County.

My visionary leadership over the last 20 years has been the consistent force behind the transformation of San Marcos into North County’s center for innovation, education, and healthcare. San Marcos went from a hidden gem into the shining jewel of North County, where every resident was considered in my decisions.
As I look ahead to the opportunity to serve as your County Supervisor, I’m ready to bring my balanced, experienced, future-minded leadership to all of San Diego County. I am determined to extend my vision of providing excellent customer service, ensuring the region remains a fantastic place to raise a family, thrive, and prosper.
After running and winning 5 elections, I know how to get things done! I’m an active listener, and I know how to stay in my lane. I value solutions over ideology, and I want to bring my pragmatic and results-driven approach to the leadership governing your quality of life in San Diego.
I understand the responsibilities of being elected to represent all people. My consistent and long history of good governance is not about politics — it’s about people. My commitment to transparency and delivering top-notch customer service ensures local policies remain effective and community-focused.
"As I turn to the opportunity to serve as your San Diego County Supervisor, I'm confident my successful track record and deep understanding of the local issues affecting you position me as the most effective and proven candidate”

- Mayor Rebecca Jones
ALREADY IMPACTING YOUR LIFE
I don’t shy away from tough fights when it comes to protecting our community. From securing school funding and championing affordable housing in San Marcos to leading the charge to stop the controversial mileage tax as an active member of SANDAG Board of Directors.
I have demonstrated an unwavering dedication to the financial well-being of all San Diego County residents. I push back on the waste of taxpayer dollars at SANDAG and work hard to find sensible transportation solutions that serve all San Diego County residents.
As a vocal advocate for practical transit options, not one-size-fits-all mandates, I have introduced and proposed innovative solutions to our crowded streets and highways – from micro-transit to Bus Rapid Transit.
My goal is to enhance North County traffic circulation while respecting rural lifestyles and promoting sustainability.

On the Issues
CUSTOMER SERVICE EXCELLENCE
I believe local elected officials should stay focused on service, not politics. My non-partisan, customer service-driven initiatives prioritize what matters.
I believe we must adapt when things aren't working, just like businesses do. My commitment to transparency and continuous reflection on delivering excellent customer service ensures local policies remain effective and community-focused.
SAFE & PEACEFUL NEIGHBORHOODS
Public safety is a priority. I work closely with law enforcement, firefighters, and community organizations to ensure the well-being and security of all residents.
When first elected in San Marcos, our city regularly faced gang injunctions to prohibit criminal activity on our streets. I worked tirelessly to ensure law enforcement was equipped with the resources to protect residents and maintain a presence in our neighborhoods. When the school district didn’t have the budget, I found the funding to support School Resource Officers to keep students, faculty, and visitors safe on school campuses. We earned the Excellence in Prevention Advocacy Award for championing drug and alcohol prevention efforts with stricter ban enforcement for selling and possessing synthetic drugs.
Today, San Marcos is ranked in the Top 15 Safest Cities in the entire state of California.
TOP NOTCH FIRE PREVENTION
The San Marcos Fire Department earned the highest possible insurance industry rating for fire department services, called a “Class 1” rating. Some of the criteria include water availability, equipment, staffing, training, and one of the fastest response times in San Diego County.
Under my watch, achieving a Class 1 rating has led to lower insurance premiums for residents and businesses. Wildfire risk is top of mind and there’s no reason we shouldn’t strive and achieve the highest standards throughout San Diego County.
SMART GROWTH AND THRIVING
Throughout my 20 years of service, staying ahead of housing requirements ensured development aligned with the changing needs of our families and businesses. I champion thoughtful negotiations that respect property rights and community character. Under my leadership, we created a city that supports diverse living—from urban North City to rural Twin Oaks Valley.
I brought a proactive approach to addressing housing insecurity and homelessness, which resulted in one of the lowest homelessness levels in San Diego County and provides thousands of adults and children with a safe place they call home.
TRANSPARENCY AND ACCOUNTABILITY
San Marcos is the 1st city in the county to create a Leading, Efficiency, Accountability and Engagement (LEAN) department. This pioneering approach to financial management ensures efficient use of your hard-earned money.
San Marcos historically has the lowest tax increments, so when our residents trusted us by supporting a sales tax to bridge our budget gap, I created LEAN to establish accountability and transparency for how their money is spent.
